Project description: The goal of the project is to assist in the prevention of ecological and health risks in Martuni by ensuring the implementation of existing legislation on scavenging and the sale of chemicals. Accordingly, the following actions will be implemented: mobilization of community and companion-in-arms organizations, coalition development, publication and distribution of booklets and posters, development and adoption of improved regulations on scavenging and the sale of chemicals.

"Gegharkunik Human Rights
Protection Centre" NGO


Project duration: June 1, 2008 – December 31, 2008
Project description: The goal of the project is to expedite improvements in the activities of 12 local self-governing bodies in Gegharkunik marz of Republic of Armenia.
To achieve this goal the organization will monitor the activities of local self-governing bodies in 12 communities of Gegharkunik marz, as well as prepare and publish a report on monitoring of each local self-governing body. The organization will then organize a round-table in each community and the report will be presented  to the  supporting group formulated in the community and to the local self-governing bodies, presenting certain suggestions for the improvement of the activities of local self-governing bodies . The report will be presented to the Area Governing Ministry, to Gegharkunik municipality, to the concern representatives of the civil society for influencing the target local self-governing bodies and gaining their attention towards other problems exisiting in the community.

Project title: Law and legal monitoring of school children health

Project description: The aim of the "Law and legal monitoring of school children health" project is to re-establish an annual health check system in the schools of Martuny city. Brochures and posters will be printed, talk shows will be held on local TV, meetings with parents, school and LSGB representatives will be held, and marches will be organized from within the project.  General health examinations will be held in selected schools.
